 Profession: Right of Way Acquisition Agent (Illinois, USA)

 

What we look for…

Our team is seeking an acquisition agent who is a self-starter and has demonstrated success in bringing a level of comfort to all parties involved during the acquisition process.  The primary focus for this role will be to provide effective public engagement and acquisition of surface rights, demonstrated in an ethical and professional manner. This role will need to demonstrate both interpersonal and industry knowledge when in the field as well as an eye for technology when inputting updates, providing summaries and communicating with project teams.

The successful candidate will immediately participate in the public engagement and acquisition processes on new and current projects in Evolve’s US Operations.  We are looking for industry professionals in the state of Illinois who are ready for a new challenge and opportunity to grow with an industry leader.

 

Responsibilities would include:

  • Negotiate with landowners to acquire the necessary property rights for electric transmission, natural gas pipelines and other energy projects
  • Perform necessary research and due diligence to support acquisition of land rights
  • Participate in open houses and other landowner events
  • Support construction activities and post-construction damage settlements

 What we require…

  • 2 – 5 years experienced in Land Acquisition
  • Willingness to travel to new areas and learn new industries related to Right-of-Way
  • Competent with technology-based update and project management systems (ie. Mapping/GIS , spreadsheets, emails etc.)
  • Familiarity in MS Office applications including Power Point, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong competencies relating to reviewing legal contracts and ability to learn new agreements supporting energy projects
  • Solution-driven, with the ability to find common ground and build mutually beneficial agreements when navigating challenging scenarios with external stakeholders
  • Strong consultation and negotiation skills when engaging stakeholders to facilitate land access
  • Experience with a variety of acquisition agreements required to secure land access
  • Ability to organize projects and work independently
  • Professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information

  • Active member of the AAPL or IRWA
  • Post-secondary education
